"Shiva-Shakti"- Thematic Double CD Album

This album of mine was released on the 13th of August.

About the album:

This CD is being marketed by Swathi Soft Solutions.

The theme is "Shiva-Shakti" and it focuses exclusively on the deities at Kanchipuram - Devi Kamakshi and Lord Ekamreshwara.

Kanchipuram is one of the seven most sacred places of worship in our country.

Lord Ekamreshwara and Devi Kamakshi, enshrined in separate temples in this city are adored by thousands of devotees from all over the country and abroad.

Kanchipuram is one of the "Pancha Bhoota Sthala"s where Lord Shiva is worshipped as "Prithvi Lingam " symbolising the Element Earth. Just the thought of Ekamreshwara gives liberation - aptly praised by Sri Muttuswami Dikhitar in his monumental Kriti "Chintaya maakanda" in Bhairavi. All the four tamizh saints(nalvar) have sung in praise of Lord Ekamreshwara of Kanchipuram.

Devi Kamakshi, the presiding deity of Kanchipuram is one of the most famous shrines of The Goddess in the country.Devi is worshipped in "Sri Chakra"and this temple is closely associated with the life of Adi Sankara.Several composers including the Trinity have sung extensively in praise of Devi Kamakshi.
Oothukkadu Venkata Kavi has composed nine gems in Sanskrit as "Navavarana Kritis" bringing out the essence of Devi Upasana.

This album is dedicated to the worship of Shiva and Shakti in the form of Lord Ekamreshwara and Devi Kamakshi with compositions of Muttuswami Dikshitar,Pattinathar and Tamizh Nalvar(Tirugnanasambandar, Tirunavukkarasar, Sundarar and Manikkavasagar) Tevarams as well as Kamakshi Navavarana Kritis of Venkata Kavi.

The CD launch and concert were organized under the banner of Shanti Arts Foundation and Endowments (SAFE)at R.K.Swamy Hall, Mylapore.

Sri.A.Natarajan, Former Director-Doordarshan released the album and the first copy was received by Sri.K.Vaidiyanathan, Editor-Dinamani. Sri.Ramabhadran of SAFE gave the welcome address.

I gave a concert after this function. Accompanists were V.Sanjeev and Patri Satishkumar. (They have accompanied me in the CD too.)

It is a precious possession for any CM rasika, who claims to know CM and learners of treasures of CM.

I can bet that each number will be lingering in ones ears for the whole day, will make repeat audience, wanting for more, leave a feel of 'Oh ! why did this number finish so soon?'

It is melodic to the core. On listening to it not only did I feel happy but peace, contentment of raising the bar as a rasika to understand & appreciate the intricacies of the rendition. The song lyrics are filled with so many words and thus it makes it much more difficult to emote. It is definitely a superlative performance by GG. Both Sanjeev and Patri have accompanied well to emulate the mood of the songs and have not overplayed an inch. Superb recording too.

Dear Fellow bloggers, please do not conclude that I am boasting off OR marketing. My only intention is that ' yaam petra inbam peruga ivvaiyagam'

It is about a week now since I got the CD and I am listening to it repeatedly. Well, I am going back to listen to it again. Because, each time we can explore deeper in to it.

Although the answer will be 'NO', still, I would like to ask GG whether any newer recording technique is used something like computer graphics, so that, you sound so special in this album?

Hi Gayathri,

Two decades ago, I have been to the EkamBareshwar temple in KAnchipuram.

Here you have mentioned the diety as Ekamreshwar. I searched in google, and found out that both refer to the same Deity. Can you clarify ? Is there any difference ? why the diety is called both EkamBareshwar and Ekamreshwar ? Am wondering....thanks.
