The December Music Season
2010 December Music Season :
20 December Music Seasons have gone by and this is going to be the 21st December Music Season for me :-))
It suddenly occured to me that I should briefly pen down a few thoughts on the past 20 years of my career.
My debut in the Music Season was in December 1990.
Looking back at these 20 years:
First ever December Season Concert was under the auspices of Karthik Fine Arts - 22nd December 1990.
(I was just out of school that year and into my first year at Meenakshi College..)
Starting from the afternoon slots in the first few years, I came into the "early evening" slots in the subsequent years and now presently in the prime evening slots..
Till 1995, my December concerts would invariably be combined with semester exams at college :-)
There have been many awards and honors in the past Music Festivals..
Press reviews: The last 20 years have seen several accolades, praise and bashings too :-). Over the years, I have learnt to take everything into my stride.
(This was in December 1999 - my 10th December Music Season.)
Each year has been a learning experience. Planning each concert requires a lot of thought, including selection of compositions to suit the occasion, managing the time and presenting my best in the given 2 or 2.5 hours. These 20 years have been wonderful in this context as well.
Artists always have goals and dreams. My journey through these years has always been towards my goal and it will continue.. Some dreams have got fulfilled, some dreams have remained unfulfilled till date :-)
((This was in December 2009 - my 20th December Music Season.)
One thing that has always remained constant over all these years is my belief in God, belief in hard work and support from well-wishers. I always begin the Season with my humble Pranams to all my Gurus, who have been the inspiration and guiding light for me all along.
I am looking forward to my 21st year's Music Season with the good wishes of all Rasikas :-)
God willing, I will probably be writing on the same blog 20 years hence, and see how the progress has been at that milestone :-)
