Vishvesh's Upanayanam - 5th March 2010

The 5th of March 2010 saw Vishvesh becoming a brahmachAri :-)

We conducted the Upanayanam function at Vidyabharathi Kalyana Mantapam, Mylapore, Chennai.

On 4th evening was the pUrvAngam function. Here are a couple of photos from the day's function:

Congratulations to Vishvesh. Nice photos. He looks really young. Kanchi Maha periva always insisted that upanayanam should be done very young.

I am sure you will encourage him to do (trikAla) Sandhyavandanam and Samidhadanam, learning the mantras with proper swarams.

Maybe Vishvesh will like to read this: http://www.kamakoti.org/hindudharma/part17/chap12.htm .

I have been meaning to put together a small article on the importance of Sandhyavandanam, but haven't found the time :(

Best wishes to Vishvesh, 'दीर्घायुष्मान् भव सौम्या'!

Hey Vishwesh,

Congratulations....if you get time, try getting details of Sandhyavandanam and Samidhadaanam in internet, learn about the same. I missed to do that ritually, atleast you do :)

All the best...

Sharma

@karthik and Sharma,

We are gradually planning to initiate Vishvesh into all the proper mantrAs and make him understand the meaningfulness of whatever prayers he chants.

He is only 7 :-).

He right now does the trikAla sandhyAvandanam and samitAdAnam in full earnest - hopefully he should do these with sustained interest and with the right kind of guidance :-)

Dear Mrs. Girish,

Congrats and all the very best to Vishvesh.

I got mine at the same age as 7. One thing I vividly remember was that it was intimidating to learn Abivathaye on the same day and repeat it for what seems like thousands of times :)
